MCC flagged off Mobile Exhibition Van of BPL trainees for 5 days under SJSRY scheme

Chandigarh, January 29: - Mr. T.P.S. Phoolka, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation today flagged off a Mobile Exhibition Van for the products prepared by the BPL trainees who had undergone training in various vocations with different NGOs in the urban colonies of Chandigarh under Centrally sponsored scheme being implemented by the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.

Mr. N.P.S. Randhawa, Director, Museum and Art gallery, Chandigarh and Mr. Bhagat Ram Rana, Project Coordinator SJSRY and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. The mobile van with various products displayed in it was flagged off just from the outside of the MCC office towards Neelam Cinema parking and thereafter to the parking of Kiran Cinema, sector 22, Chandigarh. The Exhibition will be for 5 days from 29th January to 5th February, 2009.

Chand Mohd’s wife Fiza attempts suicide at Sector 48 House

Chandigarh, Jan 29: Former Deputy Chief Minister Chand Mohammad wife Anuradha Bali alias Fiza, today attempted suicide by consuming 30-32 sleeping pills. She was immediately rushed to the General Hospital Sector 32.
According to the doctors her condition is stable. The matter came to light when Fiza’s family members found her lying in a subconscious state early today. Considering her critical condition. The police also proposes to conduct a search of her house to look for any possible suicide note.
Barely two months back lovebirds Fiza and Chand Mohammad spiced up Haryana politics after they rechristened to Islam. Yesterday Fiza alais Anuradha Bali had blamed her brother-in-law Kuldeep Bishnoi and Chander Mohan’s first wife Seema of being behind the kidnapping of her husband since the family had not approved their marriage.
However, the kidnapping drama was shortly over after her husband Chand Mohammad contact the media and dismissed reports of his kidnapping. The missing leader was traced to New Delhi’s Greater Kailash later in the day and told police he walked out of his Chandigarh home after a tiff.

“I am not a kid who can be kidnapped,” he told them, adding that he was on his way to Haridwar.

It is believed that it is a matter of family dispute which originated of financial crisis and political pressure. His brother Kuldeep Bishnoi is behind the crime. He sent criminals who have abducted her husband after beating him badly,” Fiza, an advocate, had told reporters
But, the fact remains that Chander Mohan had not yet returned home. This might have put in apprehensions in Fiza’s mind leading her to take such a drastic step.

Reliance MF adjudged Best Fund House and Vikrant Gugnani best CEO in India

Chandigarh, January 29, 2009: Reliance Mutual Fund, part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has been adjudged as the best fund house in India and Vikrant Gugnani as best CEO by Asia Asset Management, a journal of investments and pensions based out of Hong Kong.

Asia Asset Management magazine is a monthly publication focusing on the institutional fund markets in the Asia Pacific region.

Two Day Workshop concluded in GCG 11

Chandigarh 29 Jan 2009:- A Two Day Workshop ART FOR THE GIRL CHILD on the theme “Valuing the Girl Child” concluded in Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh today. Fifteen artists from the region participated in the workshop and students from various colleges of the city learnt painting skills under the able guidance of these eminent painters. The paintings portraying the conditions faced by the girl child and the social problems surrounding her were depicted in a varied and versatile manner. Some of the artists painted the issues symbolically wherein the pathos was painted poignantly.

The artists appreciated the concern and were pleased to be a part of the meaningful event. The participating students felt elated as they watched the famous painters bringing their works alive. They were moved that it was an experience of their lifetime. They felt that they would be serving as carriers of change in the society by sensitizing more and more people on the issue of Valuing the girl child.

The paintings of these Artists will be put on exhibition in the near future.

Punjab Chief Minister ensures transparency in allotment of land

The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today constituted
committees under the chairmanship of respective Sub Divisional
Magistrates as Chairman with Tehsildars as member in all the Sub
Divisions of the State to physically check the claim of possession of land for allotment of Rural Evacuee Land.

According to an official spokesman in a significant decision taken the Chief Minister today directed Revenue Department that it would be the personal responsibility of each committee to physically check the claim of possession of land and certify that before allotment of Rural Evacuee Land to the beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister also extended the date for filling application for rural evacuee land up to April 30, 2009. He said that the committees has been constituted specially by Chief Minister to ensure transparency in allotment of land and to avoid future litigation.

The spokesman said that the committee would record that whether the claimant was in continuous possession of said land from the sowing season of Kharif, 2000 as entered into the revenue records. The spokesman said that Rural Evacuee land would be allotted to farmers of the general category @ Rs.15000 per acre and to the farmer of scheduled caste and backward classes @ 12000 per acre. He said that to facilitate the farmers the money would be recovered from them in 6 six monthly installments.

The spokesman said that presently 42195 acres of land was available in Punjab for allotment. The land would be allotted under Rural Evacuee Land Punjab Package Deal Properties (disposal) Act 1976 and its relevant rules.
